Earth-Land Velocity

  • The movement of land over or through a primordial surface would be like being dragged through treacle, but the hotter the submerged fluid, the more mobile it will be.
  • The dateline is defined as being before the appearance of water.

* %age equatorial velocity
  • It is a feature of Earth (an oblate spheroid) that at 60deg from either pole (90deg), the velocity is 50% the equatorial value.

These figures show a curved (pseudo-linear) relationship between latitudes, but clearly demonstrate increasing velocity towards the equator. At one-third of the angular distance from the pole (60deg) towards the equator (0deg), the velocity is half the equatorial value (834km/h and 1668km/h). Each latitudinal separation is 15deg. This illustrates the reason for S. America being the shape it is and its altered coastline contour from N. America. Patagonia is relatively slow moving compared to the eastern coast of Brazil at the equator that moves the fastest. The Peruvian and Chilean coastlines would be straighter without the exaggerated curve centred around Bolivia. Mexico would be pulled eastward caused by the velocity differential (northern Mexico: 30deg = 1444km/h  -> southern Mexico: 20deg = 1568km/h [differerntial: 124km/h] and the difference between Cuba/Dominican Republic: 20deg = 1568km/h and north Venezuela coast: 10deg = 1643km/h. The further towards the equator the relative velocity differential reduces, but the actual velocity still increases.

All of this does enable some remarkable conclusions to be drawn with respect to the N. American and the S. American coastlines. In fact, every land mass on the planet and throws the ('established') Pangaea theory into considerable confusion, even though the concept may be valid in principle (future communication).
